Calix EXA - Updating Line Card Locally
Updating an EXA Card Locally
Download and install the FileZilla Server (https://filezilla-project.org/)
Create a folder on the Desktop of your computer, download the EXA software version you want to update to, unzip the file, and put in the folder on your desktop. This makes things easier when we configure FileZilla.
Open FileZilla Server click Edit => Users
In the General page, under Users, click Add and type “ftpuser” or use whatever username you want. Click OK.
Under Account Settings, set the password to “ftpuser” or use whatever password you want.

Click “Shared folders” on the left
Under shared folders, click Add and navigate to the folder where the update is located
Under files, check Read and check Write
Under Directories check List and Subdirs
Click “Set as home dir”

Set your computer to the static IP address 192.168.1.2.
Connect your computer to the E7 shelf with a patch cable.
Open a web browser and type https://192.168.1.1
The EXA default username is e7
The EXA default password is admin
Click Action => Upgrade => Upgrade System

Fill out the information of your ftp server
The FTP Server should be the static IP of your computer
The user and password should be what you configured for FileZilla
In this example, we set the folder with the upgrade to be our home directory so we only needed to enter "/" as the path.
To find the version open the update file from your desktop and you should see a manifest.xml document. Open this with Notepad and you will see the update version.

Click Upgrade System.

A System Upgrade Status popup window should appear showing status of the updates

After update is complete the system will reboot.
Log back into the E7 and commit the new update version that was installed.

The Active Running should be the same as the Active Committed Version. The line card is now updated.
