Calix SMx - How to Migrate SMx to a New Server

To migrate a running instance of SMX to a new server you first need to install SMX on the new server with the same version as the source server. Note: its not possible to restore to a newer version of SMX. Upgrades must be completed separately.

If you want to migrate to a new server and keep the same IP address follow these steps:

1. Backup the source server DB

/opt/PMAPMAA/bin/activate-db-backup.sh

2. Copy the backup to the new server (new server must be on a temporary IP)

scp /opt/PMAPMAA/backup/<timestamp>_full.tar.gz <new server IP>:/root/

3. Shutdown the source server or disconnect its networking

4. Takeover the original IP on the new server.

5. Install SMX on the new server

6. Restore the DB from backup

/opt/PMAPMAA/bin/activate-db-restore.sh <timestamp>_full.tar.gz
