Calix Cloud - Adding AXOS E7-2 to Calix Operations Cloud
Operations Cloud improves and accelerates your organization's goal of delivering an outstanding subscriber experience with simplified operations and intelligent insights.
With an integrated view from the access PON edge to the Wi-Fi antenna, Operations Cloud continuously gathers unified data from your network infrastructure.
This KB is primarily for adding AXOS systems to Calix Operations Cloud; EXA has a different process.
Step 0: Pre-check
- Make sure the AXOS system has a working DNS
- You can run the command: show run ip name-server in the CLI

Make sure the NTP server is active

Run the command: show ntp in the CLI

Create Region and Location
- In Operations Cloud -> System Onboarding -> Region Settings

Add new region with the ‘Add Region’ button if needed. Must have at least 1 region and 1 location.
- If region already exists, you can add a location on the right side of page

Step 1: Set up Calix Ops
- Obtain the E7-2 System MAC address
- Run the command: show entityPhysical | include entPhysicalSystemMac

- In Ops Cloud -> System Onboarding -> AXOS System -> Call Home
- Click ‘Add Call Home’ button
- ‘Device Name Format’ = [Device Name]
- ‘MAC/IP Address with Subnet’ = [System MAC from last step]
- ‘Region’ = [Device Region]
- ‘Location’ = {Device Location]
- ‘Distributed OLT Name’ = [Device Name]
- ‘User Name’ & ‘Password’ = [Bitwarden Calix Ops Password]
- ‘Connect Timout’ = [Default 5]

Step 2: Set up AXOS Device
- Create user for Calix Ops Cloud on the E7
- Run the following command in config mode: “aaa user opscloud password [BW PASSWORD] role admin”
- Configure Call Home in AXOS CLI
- Run the following commands in config mode:
- call-home netconf-client [OLT NAME]
- ssh endpoints endpoint COC address opscloud-us.calix.com port 7777
- connection-type periodic reconnect-timeout 1
- exchange-device-info enable
- copy run start

Step 3: Verify connection
- In Operations Cloud -> System Onboarding -> AXOS Systems
- System will show up in the table below. Could take up to 20 minutes
- Verify Connection Status is ‘CONNECTED’ and Config Status is ‘SYNCHRONIZED’

- In E7-2
- Run the below command in the CLI:
- show call-home netconf-client [OLT NAME]
- Verify the state is ‘Active’
